GLORIA OPARE - Founder/CEO

Miss Ghana USA was FOUNDED by Gloria Abena Ofosuah Opare in 2009. Born in Accra, and from the Eastern Region of Ghana, Kwahu District. She spent most of her childhood in Ghana, moving to United States when she was 11 years old. Since then, she has split time living in each country and is uniquely ingrained in both cultures.

Miss Opare attended Oklahoma State University on a track and field SCHOLARSHIP before transferring to the University of Texas at San Antonio to study International Business. After the birth of her son, she obtained her real estate license and pursued a successful CAREER in real estate. This endeavor included becoming a partner with an Austin, Texas firm and maintaining her status as an ACTIVE member of the San Antonio Board of Realtors and Austin Board of Realtors.

Miss Opare has always had an overwhelming desire to help others. During her childhood in Ghana, she saw firsthand the unfortunate impact of poor HEALTH CARE on family, friends and neighbors. This experience has ultimately inspired her to seek a CAREER in the medical field. Her original goal was to become a NURSE, but this dream was delayed when she moved permanently to the United States. While living in San Antonio, Miss Opare volunteered at the United States Air Force Base, Wilford Medical Center’s HIV department.

This time spent with critically-ill patients made her realize her true calling and rekindled her desire for a medical career. Now permanently settled in Austin, Texas, Miss Opare is currently completing her degree to become a licensed surgical technologist.

Miss Opare competed in several beauty pageants and placed in the 2001 Miss Ghana Canada. Having experienced the challenges of EARNING a good education, obtaining GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS, and paying for student loans, Miss Opare understands that participation in beauty pageants provides a way for young ladies to achieve their dreams. Therefore, in 2009, Miss Opare founded the Miss Ghana USA organization to promote young women of Ghanaian heritage and provide them an avenue to achieve goals and carry-out social and HUMANITARIAN initiatives.

The annual Miss Ghana USA Pageant allows phenomenal women to compete for Queen and to implement social PROGRAMS to help people in Ghana, as well as the United States. Pageant revenue also provides FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE to an orphanage and the education of young women in Ghana.

LUCIA NAA-ADJEKAI LOMO - Director/USA

Lucia Naa-Adjekai Lomo is a Ghanaian by birth, and an old fashion designer and veteran Miss Ghana Pageant participant who is now pursuing a NURSING DEGREE. She has been a runway model since age 19; she modeled for fashion designers such as, Karim Isaka, Kofi Ansah, Afri-Ken Novelty and other top designers in Ghana. She enjoys playing basketball, modeling and living a good life. She is the last of three siblings and enjoys spending time with her family- which is something she cherishes deeply. She attended school at S.D.A, Martin Luther King International junior high school, and Labone senior high school which was the only high school in her RESIDENTIAL area.

In her second year of college she competed for Miss Ghana beauty pageant where she was crowned queen for Miss Greater Accra 2009. Then in 2011 she took part in the Miss Ghana USA beauty pageant and was among the final five finalist. Due to such achievements her driving philosophy states that with hard work, determination and God fearing, the sky can only be a starting point”. She believes in every human endeavor and that, it is always imperative for one to aim for the “head and not the tail”. Such attributes and motivation is what her mother taught her, that is why she desires her mom’s self confidence; coupled with her warm nature, therefore her mother will always be her role model.

JEFFREY OHENE-DARKO - PR

Jeffrey Ohene Darko is an American University graduate with a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communications while obtaining a Bachelor’s in Communication and a Minor in Political Science prior, from Westfield State University. Darko is a Ghanaian-American, very enthusiast about the media and its’ components, and specializes in Public & Cooperate Relations and Entertainment Management- a highly skilled individual in the field, with hopes to ameliorate on his acquired expertise. As a member of the Miss Ghana USA Public Relations team, and having his own PR Bureau, Darko sets in as a force to reckon with, in the industry; and aims to diversify and transform the field of show business. Additionally, having various experience in organizing and participating in various CHARITY EVENTS and COMMUNITY SERVICE, it’s his passion to continue assisting others, in-relation to the mission of MGUSA: which is all about giving back to the community, where-as making an impact. He believes joining the team will contribute and increase his drive in the field, additionally, upsurge his act of recompensing, regarding the society.

Bernard Remy Shell- BRAND DIRECTOR

Bernard Remy Shell is a dynamic gentleman and represents considerable authority in Entertainment Management. He is profoundly exceptional in assisting these young talented ladies in bringing out their best, so unique in adding a touch of excellence to each pageant he was involved in. His contribution in the 2012 pageant cannot be overemphasized or forgotten.
He has twelve 12 years of experience with a remarkable and unrivaled distinctiveness within the industry. The beauty of his innovations is simply outstanding. Beyond the entertainment industry, he has a passion to assist the vulnerable, an avid philanthropist at heart.

BENNET BEMPONG- SOCIAL EVENT COORDINATOR

Bennet Bempong is a 21 third year student of Central University reading B.A in Communication Studies. Bennet has a strong passion and interest in the pageantry and has been with the Miss Ghana USA Organization since 2017.
He first worked with Face of Central University, where he acted as the pageant coordinator, as a result of his passion and love for beauty pageants after his experience with his school pageant, Bennet had the opportunity to work with Exclusive Events Ghana; organizers of The Miss Ghana Pageant, Ghana’s premier national pageant where he had the responsibility of event Coordination, scouting and social media contribution.

As an ambitious humanitarian young man, he has the passion to impact the lives of less privileged in his community within the education system through charity foundations. He has also worked with charity organizations in Ghana, in the role of providing mentorship.

EUGENE ASEM - SOCIAL MEDIA CORRESPONDENT

Eugene has a strong passion and interest in social media marketing and content creation tailored to the context of individual social media platforms in order to drive user engagement and sharing. He has been with the Ms. Ghana USA Organization since 2017.
